Where We Are Now
The Baptist House, since summer of 2009, has been going through some changes and we are anticipating even more as we rebuild our identity on campus and to our churches and supporters. We are getting great leadership and volunteer support from the local ABC churches in Muncie and I have been able to preach at each one of them and share about all that’s going on as well. I would love to come to your church as well. You can contact me at david@bahouse.org for now by email.
Here is a brief synopsis of where we are now:
Preparing for the Future at The Baptist House
As I come into this new position as Interim Campus Pastor at The Baptist House at Ball State University I feel it important for me to communicate with our churches, alumni, and friends, what priorities we have in mind for this important ministry/mission.
David Jones Called to Serve as Interim Campus Pastor
The Reverend David A. Jones has been called to serve as Interim Campus Pastor at The Baptist House at Ball State University upon the retirement of long time Pastor, Rev. Charlie Gilbert. David grew up in South Carolina and graduated from Furman University in 1986 with B.A. in Religion and from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1990 with a Master of Divinity in Religious Educations. Rev. Jones’ first ministry position in Indiana with American Baptists was at First Baptist Church, Sullivan, where he served as the Associate Pastor for Educational Ministry and Youth.
Charlie Retiring
After a long a fruitful ministry at the Baptist House and area churches, Charlie Gilbert announced his retirement. We will miss Charlie and are thankful for the many contributions he has made to this ministry. Here is a letter from Charlie.
After twenty-two wonderful years as the campus pastor at the Baptist House, I have sensed God calling me into a new phase of life and ministry. Therefore I am submitting my resignation as campus pastor, effective May 15, 2009.
To Baptist House Donors
Thank you for your past giving to the Baptist House at Ball State University. Support from local churches is crucial for a continued American Baptist witness on the BSU campus.
